The War Walls

After the White House we went back to the parking garage and got our cameras and bags to haul around.
We went to the walls. The first one was The World War II Memorial. The reverence there was over whelming. Knowing that Pop Pop Walter and Grandpa Richardson served in this war and survived gave me so much love and respect for this place. It was absolutely beautiful!

Each State is represented on the raised pillars. Wise words are etched on all of the walls.
This is the Korean War Memorial. The Statues are white, and I am told it is haunting to see at night. Each statue is lit up at night, looking like ghosts.
The wall is etched with faces from every branch of the military.
At the Vietnam Wall, the names are over whelming.

Someone left a note to a friend.

Brings tears to the eyes knowing how many men have served and given their lives for our freedom and to help others achieve what we have. To them I can truly see our Lord saying, "Well done thou good and faithful servant."

We, Analia, Janae and Val, had the opportunity to tour the White house while we were in D.C. It took us a couple months just to say we could go and then we had to have a back ground check. They knew more about me than I know about myself! We could only take our Drivers licences and a turned off cell phone in with us.
There is so much wonderful history in that building. The Rooms are much smaller than I thought they would be.
Before it was time to go in, we walked around the block. The first Picture is the back of the White house. We even saw the presidential garden. It was beautiful!

This next picture is after the tour and we come out the front. The guard saw us taking pictures with our phones and asked us to stop and move along. Yikes!

This last picture is taken back at the street, through the fence.
The weather was so nice while we were there. We were hoping to be there when the leaves were changing. But like everywhere else, fall was late.

Exercise

Yesterday, I decided to wipe the dust off my muscles and get them moving again. I started a new round of weight training. I started so slow, most exercises I didn't even use weights. Yet today I am sore! My plan is to have some kind of definition by my 40th Birthday. Two months, think it's possible?
Katelyn and Samantha started too. I really hope Katelyn sticks with it. She has inherited my bad back and needs to strengthen it so she doesn't end up with it messed up.
The younger three are in the third week of off track. I will not miss the constant fighting of who touched who when they go back.
So I have my first page written and ready to take to class tomorrow. I think it's good, but is it great? Guess we will find out. I keep having dreams of going to class and no one taking it seriously but me. Even the teacher, he just cooks. Funny!

Shot down again

Last night was another writing class. I think I confused my teacher and now I'm confused as to where I want my story to go. I'm almost so sick of the subject, shadows, that I want to throw it out the window. But I know I can't. My kids came up with the story line and they are excited for me to write it. I WILL push through this. Cause if I can do this, I can do anything, right?

The picture is one I took on Mount Timpanogos. It's my favorite one of all the goat pictures I took. That was a hard hike but I absolutely loved it. How did I make it to the top? One step at a time. How will I write this book? One step at a time. :) I'm so deep!

I have taken on the the roll of a writer. I thought; I like to read, I like to write, why not? My only hang up is spelling and grammer and I have spell check for that. I have a good imagination! Let's do it!
eeeee Not as easy as it sounds. Once I started it wasn't so easy. Now I am taking a Creative Writing class and find it hard and challenging. But in the past two weeks I can see my growth.
Someday I will be published. That is my goal, for now, to be published. Just to prove to myself that I can do something and follow through, well.

So the biggest change in ours lives is Mr. Eko. If you watch Lost you will know where it comes from. He is such a delight. He plays his puppy ways yet he is quite mellow. He even gives hugs. Katelyn has taken on the duty of night patrol, but he is already sleeping through the night. What a good boy!! He was born on Christmas Day. So as Him and his sibling came out, Candice, the breeder, gave them the reindeer's names. He was Prancer.

He has learned to sit and is learning to walk with us on a leash.

His Sister, Bella, lives next door. I get to let her out during the day and she comes over to play. They have a ball! When they are done they are pooped and take long naps.

All in all, we love him and love that he is apart of our family!

Something new

Well, I was in the car with my friend Karen today and she asked why I don't blog. I basicly told her I don't have much to say. After reading my sister Hollie's blog, I decided to give it a try. I don't know how good I will be at this but It could be fun!
So here's to trying!!
